Election Information

Consolidated Elections
Municipal officers are elected at Consolidated Elections held every odd-numbered year on the first Tuesday in April. The president, clerk, and Board of Trustees of the Village of Chicago Ridge are all elected to four-year terms.

Administration
The Cook County clerk conducts elections held in Chicago Ridge. The village clerk is the designated local election official. The village clerk is to accept nomination papers from candidates for village offices and to certify to the Cook County clerk the names and order in which they are to appear on the ballot.

State of Illinois Candidate’s Guide
A copy of the State of Illinois Candidate’s Guide published annually by the State Board of Elections is available at the Village Hall approximately six months prior to the Consolidated Election. The guide provides information on the election process to prospective candidates seeking office at the local level. It also provides general information, such as requirements for filing nominating papers, specific forms to be used, etc.

In addition to information on the proper completion and filing of nomination papers, the guide lists the qualifications required for candidates seeking specific offices. For example: age and residency requirements, signature requirements, filing locations, and dates. The State Board of Elections, Chicago Office can be reached at 312-814-6440.
