Anthony Layman

Anthony graduated from Marist High School in 1996, and went on to receive an Associates in Applied Science for Criminal Justice at Moraine Valley.   

Anthony attended the Chicago Police Academy and graduated in February 2001.  He started his career as a Patrol Officer with the Crete Police Department.  In October 2001, Anthony was hired by the Chicago Ridge Police Department.  While at the Chicago Ridge Police Department, he held the rank of Patrol Officer, Field Training Officer, Bike Patrol Officer and Evidence Technician.

In June 2006 Anthony was assigned to the Investigations Division as the rank of Detective.  While in Investigations, Anthony investigated different types of crimes such as: property, identity, and financial.  He has also investigated over 200 violent crimes and homicides.  During the course of these investigations, he has had numerous felony arrests, which subsequently lead to convictions.  

Anthony is currently the Commander of the Southwest Major Crimes Task Force.  He is also a member of the Southwest Major Case Unit.  Anthony organized and ran the Fifth District Detectives Meetings, which are held monthly.   He is LEAD Homicide Investigator and is a past member of the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force.  

In 2016 Anthony was nominated by fellow members of the Chicago Ridge Police Department for the Steven Smith Officer of the Year.  Anthony held rank as Detective Sergeant, held rank of Commander of Investigations in October 2017 and was promoted to the rank of Deputy Chief of Police in April 2022.     

Anthony is also a member of the Chicago Ridge Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #12, where he has served as Treasurer, Vice President, and President.
